Statement of Commitment

Therapy with Nasreen Ali is committed to safeguarding the welfare of all clients, with particular regard for children, young people, and vulnerable adults. Nasreen operates in full accordance with current UK safeguarding legislation, the BACP Ethical Framework, and relevant statutory guidance.

Confidentiality and Its Limits

Therapy is a confidential service. However, there are specific, limited circumstances in which confidentiality may need to be breached to protect you or another person from serious harm. These include:

  • If you disclose an intention to seriously harm yourself or end your life
  • If you disclose an intention to harm another person
  • If information is disclosed suggesting a child or vulnerable adult is at risk of abuse or neglect
  • If disclosure is required by a court order
  • If disclosure is necessary to prevent an act of terrorism

Wherever possible, any potential breach of confidentiality will be discussed with you first, and only the minimum information necessary will be disclosed.

Child Protection

Nasreen Ali has a legal and professional duty to report concerns about the welfare of a child (under 18 years) to the appropriate statutory agencies, including local authority children’s services or the police, where there is reasonable cause to believe a child may be at risk of significant harm. This duty overrides the duty of confidentiality.

Risk Assessment

Where risk to self or others is identified, Nasreen will work collaboratively with you to develop a safety plan and, where appropriate, signpost you to additional support services. In situations of immediate risk, emergency services may be contacted.

Clinical Supervision

Nasreen Ali receives regular clinical supervision in accordance with BACP requirements. Supervision is conducted in a confidential, anonymised format. Supervisors are bound by the same professional and ethical obligations.
